Frequently Asked Questions

Anytime I play for a crowd, I plugin to speakers. Both the acoustic and electric violins are amplified. There is a look and slight tone difference between the two. Typically for cocktail or dinner hours, I'll play my acoustic violin, plugged in, with guitar tracks, and that sounds pretty good for that stage in the event. But for jamming with danceable tracks or with a DJ, I bring my electric violin out and it has more of a synthetic tone to it, a little edge that sounds good with that style of play (see pictures of my electric violin above). So when booking with me, have an idea of the vibe you want - more electric / danceable? or a little more background entertainment with the acoustic violin? Again- they'll both plug in for outdoor events (or inside at an appropriate volume for conversation).

For most events, I have really nice guitar tracks, and a few piano tracks, that paired with the acoustic violin, sound nice and natural for background conversation. Mostly popular songs, some jazz mixed in. Not really classical - that's taken care of by the String Quartet or Trio if you're looking for classical.

I always bring two speakers with me, setup on stands, cords wrapped nicely, gear completely hidden and out of the way. I have enough power for large groups looking to dance. When I need to be portable, I have two Bose battery powered speakers that are more than enough for cocktail hour or dinner music.

I perform for the first hour, then 10-15min max break with background music.

I run sound all the time, and I always bring a handheld microphone as I get asked for most events I perform for. There may be a small fee to run it for you, but I've got you covered!

Getting Started with Your Wedding Music

I'm happy to send song recommendations from both pop and classical genres that fit well during ceremonies. Once you start planning your ceremony order, that helps determine how many songs are needed.

What style are you envisioning? Traditional classical selections, modern pop covers, or a mix of both? These days, it's really whatever fits your personality and style.

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour is when the bridal party and family take photos while guests mingle. My large repertoire of modern, upbeat covers and pop songs creates the perfect atmosphere.

Why Amplified Matters: Many acoustic musicians don't amplify, and honestly, guests can barely hear them outdoors. My professional sound system ensures your guests actually hear the music, creating a lively atmosphere they'll enjoy.

The energy in my music and mixes provides a nice contrast and variety - intimate acoustic during ceremony, upbeat amplified violin during cocktail hour.
